Christie Mountain Field Trip
Each year at Gilman all of the students 4th-8th grade get to go on a field trip to Christie Mountain for a day full of downhill skiing and snowboarding. This is a tradition that has been going on long before I was at Gilman but was one that I was more than happy to continue. Once we arrive at the Mountain the older kids immediately hit the slopes after orientation while the 4th graders and new students go through training on how to use their skis. Once they've tackled the bunny hill they are then able to join the rest of their friends and schoolmates.
During my 3 years at Gilman I thankfully never had any major injuries from students, though my first year I did mess up my shoulder pretty bad learning to snowboard. It's always a long and exhausting day, but definitely one of the highlights. Here are some photos from my 2017-2018 school year:
